Hailing from the South East, this Alt-Rock trio were forged deep in the sweaty crucible of a mosh pit. Renowned for their ferocious, high-octane live sets, the band have cemented themselves as ones-to-watch with the release of their EP Better Days. Amidst a hectic year, we caught up with the band to talk through a summer of relentless touring, and to see what’s net for the Brighton trio.
For those unaware, how would you describe SNAYX to someone who has never heard of you?
Think gritty, high-energy melodic punk that makes you want to throw yourself into a mosh pit whilst simultaneously be at a rave.
With festival season coming to an end, what’s been the highlight? Any crazy stories or fan interactions?
Our highlight has to be the silent disco set at 2000 Trees this year. It was one of the strangest yet coolest experiences we've ever had. It also felt like a slight victory to have even made it there, as we had been stranded for 30 hours straight in Germany, after breaking down on the autobahn coming back from supporting Royal Blood on tour.
Playing live directly into the audience’s headphones, where everything went silent if you took them off—was pretty surreal! It felt like stepping between two completely different realities. Strange, but in the best possible way!
After such a busy summer, have you had any time to work on new music?
Yes! Despite the madness of the summer, we’ve been sneaking in some writing sessions during the small pockets of downtime. It’s been exciting to see where our sound is heading.
You’re heading on a headline tour this autumn, including a show at Think Tank in Newcastle, how are you feeling about it?
We're absolutely buzzing to get back on the road for another headline tour. Touring is one of our favorite parts of being in a band—it’s like a reunion with friends across the country and we’ve built such an incredible community of fans (The Belly Crawlerz). Newcastle is always a wild one. Last year, the crowd was bouncing so hard we were genuinely worried the ceiling was going to cave in! Can’t wait to see if we can top that.
Lyrically, you frequently express anger at societal issues, but what are your pet peeves?
Our biggest pet peeve is definitely people in power not being held accountable for their actions.
If you could choose anyone (dead or alive) to feature on your next single, who would it be and why?
Keith Flint from The Prodigy would be an absolute dream. He’s been a massive influence on us, both musically and in terms of performance. His energy was completely unmatched. RIP <3
Finally, what’s next for SNAYX?
Other than tour end of this month, we’ve just been asked to work on an Amazon Music UK ‘original’, which is a cover of a track that means a lot to us as a band, so it was a huge honour to bring our own twist to it. Keep your eyes peeled for that dropping very soon + more exciting news on the way….
With a very busy year ahead, SNAYX clearly have no intention of slowing down, so get yourself down to one of their shows and see for yourself why this band keep smashing milestones.
