New alternative band, TENT, have just emerged onto the Newcastle music scene, debuting a taste of what's to come with their first single ‘Spoonbender’.
The 4-piece is comprised of Brandon Gee (vocalist, lead guitarist), Mark Watson (rhythm guitarist), Owen Wright (bassist), and Alex Bannister (drummer). Together, they pull from a range of influences to create music in the alternative rock sphere, but ultimately maintain a uniqueness that is TENT through and through.
‘Spoonbender’ reflects this perfectly, blending inflections of rock, indie, and psychedelic music into one. This is particularly evident through the guitar, bass, and drums that establish an undeniable groove. The vocals however possess a refreshing quality; casual yet commanding, the reverberation in Gee’s voice is an elegant touch against a heavier instrumental backdrop.

Even though this is the first demo of the track, its mixing still makes for an interesting, immersive experience, with the panning drawing in listeners one instrument at a time. It certainly allows listeners to envision the potential of a more polished final version of the track.
In just under a week since its release on September 27th, the single has gained over 6400 streams and charted over 3000 monthly Spotify listeners. TENT have called this reception “astonishing”, and it is a promising early indicator of their success yet to come.
Feeling more inspired than ever, TENT have plans to gig across the North East and are already rehearsing their new music, ready for these live shows.
